Margot Janse
Managing Director of Isabelo
Margot’s culinary journey started in 1993 with Ciro Molinaro, the chef-patron of La Cucina di Ciro in Johannesburg. Margo learned every aspect of managing a kitchen and was encouraged to experiment, which created an ability to explore beyond traditional “food boundaries”.
In 1995, Margot joined Le Quartier Français in Franschhoek as Sous Chef and was promoted to Executive Chef 6 months later. A culinary evolution of 22 years followed with many national and international awards. Margot travelled extensively to continually be inspired by new ideas and stay abreast of emerging trends.
Her stimulating African-inspired surprise menu changed regularly, based on the produce which she sourced from Le Quartier’s own indigenous garden and small local producers. This resulted in a kitchen buzzing with ongoing innovative and creative energy.
In April 2017 Margot left Le Quartier Français and The Tasting Room closed.

o Managing Director of her charity Isabelo “Feeding Hungry Minds” which was founded in 2009 and feeds 1500 disadvantaged children in Franschhoek on a daily basis. www.isabelocharity.com

Linda Coltart
My extensive travels for Le Quartier Français have given me a unique view on the world’s premium hospitality operations – staying in the World’s best hotels, dining in the finest Restaurants and taking part in many trade shows and workshops around the World.
My passion for wine blossomed on these travels and my expertise on South African wines has been recognized by the Diners Club Int. Excellence and Diamond Awards I’ve received. I continue to contribute to South African wine through extensive wine-tuition with staff and members of the Franschhoek Wine Valley.
Over the years I have also been involved in numerous renovations and new projects, giving me a special insight into the design and layout of restaurants and bars.
I have led a highly motivated team to world-class accolades and implemented a benchmark in-house training program at Le Quartier Français. This focused on the upliftment of young adults from the surrounding community through training in hospitality.
I concluded my time at Le Quartier Français in 2014 to start my own business “Hospitality Fundi”. I consult in the Industry with Advising, Planning, Training and Development, Innovating and Event Co-ordinating.
I am the Franschhoek Wine Valley Ambassador working closely with its members and the local community. I lecture at the Franschhoek Hospitality Academy and consult for Regional Development in the Barossa, Australia.
I am currently involved in a Philanthropic initiative alongside Abercrombie & Kent, an award-winning luxury travel company. The “Bike Project” (a woman only project) is a community-based initiative setting up 5 local ladies in business, teaching them the business of selling, renting and bike mechanical skills with room to grow the initiative through other philanthropic projects.
