Danell Wilson-Perlman

CEO of African Skies Travel Connection LLC

Danell Wilson-Perlman is the CEO of African Skies Travel Connection LLC and co-owner of Reno Tahoe Limousine and Reno Tahoe Transportation. A native South African, Danell grew up immersed in the local tourism industry leading to a life-long passion. She has channeled that passion into her Amplify Journeys which take women entrepreneurs on a 12-day cultural exchange experience, focused on driving positive change for women in business.

She is a board member for Tahoe Wedding Industry Group, SBDC, and Zawadisha.

Danell lives in Reno, where she enjoys cooking for friends, long walks with her family, and planning her next great adventure across the globe.

Tersia Stellenberg

CEO and Founder of Dikgato Tsame (Botswana)(Pty)Ltd

Tersia is the founder and CEO of Dikgato Tsame (Botswana)(Pty)Ltd. Tersia is an accredited executive coach with Level 9 accreditation in Executive Coaching from University College Cork, Ireland. She has also been trained in the RocheMartin leadership development tool, the Emotional Capital Report (ECR) and the Emotional Capital Leadership development system; is therefore qualified to deliver individual ECR/ ECR360 feedbacks and to facilitate RocheMartin’s Emotional Capital Leadership Program. 

Tersia’s fundamental coaching focus is to accelerate the practice of emotional intelligence leadership that distinguish exceptional leaders from the average. This is the blueprint she strives to develop and utilize. She goes beyond by emphasizing the need to create emotional wealth in an organization in order to create the edge that separates the good from the great organizations. 

Tersia worked for fifteen years in various positions in leading Botswana companies, notably PricewaterhouseCoopers, Time Projects (Proprietary) Limited, Botswana Breweries (Proprietary)Limited and gained experience in administering and managing various aspects of businesses. The exposure gave her confidence in working towards her dream of establishing her own business and she founded Kagiso Funeral Parlour in Maun, Botswana. Under her leadership over eight years this business grew. It became the market leader in funeral industry in North and Central Botswana, a household name and the service-provider of choice. This business later merged with FSG Limited and was listed on Botswana Stock Exchange in 2008. 

She was recently the guest speaker for the National Strategy Office, of the Office of the President of Botswana, was one of the recipients of the SADC Women Forum & Leadership Excellence Awards and inducted into the SADC Women Leaders Hall of Fame. 

Margot Janse

Managing Director of Isabelo

Margot Janse was born and educated in The Netherlands, where her tertiary studies included drama and photography, which laid the foundation for her early work with a photographic school in Johannesburg, south Africa after relocating there in 1990.

Margot’s culinary journey started in 1993 with Ciro Molinaro, the chef-patron of La Cucina di Ciro in Johannesburg. Margo learned every aspect of managing a kitchen and was encouraged to experiment, which created an ability to explore beyond traditional “food boundaries”.

In 1995, Margot joined Le Quartier Français in Franschhoek as Sous Chef and was promoted to Executive Chef 6 months later. A culinary evolution of 22 years followed with many national and international awards. Margot travelled extensively to continually be inspired by new ideas and stay abreast of emerging trends.

Her stimulating African-inspired surprise menu changed regularly, based on the produce which she sourced from Le Quartier’s own indigenous garden and small local producers. This resulted in a kitchen buzzing with ongoing innovative and creative energy.

In April 2017 Margot left Le Quartier Français and The Tasting Room closed.

Margot is currently:

Villa Isabelo, Margo’s beautiful home on Franschhoek, The Gourmet Capital of South Africa, will be opening its doors in the Spring of 2019.

Villa Isabelo will be a multi-functional space where one can spend a beautiful holiday, plan a private culinary even, or join a special retreat, organized and run by Margot.

Charmaine Houvet

Director of Africa, Cisco

Charmain Houvet has over two decades of telecommunications experience working with private and public sector organizations across Africa.

She joined Cisco in March 2016 with several years’ experience as a Senior Executive in diverse and transformative roles with high profile leading ICT companies.

She currently serves on the Advisory Board of the Global Broadband Plan for Refugees Project whose objective is to meet the broadband connectivity goal set by the United Nations High Commission on Refugees (UNHCR). Charmain has been appointed to serve on the Presidential Commission on the Fourth Industrial Revolution under President Cyril Ramaphosa in South Africa. She chairs the Policy and Law reform workstream of the Presidential 4IR commission.

Charmaine is passionate about female and community development and serves pro bono on various boards and trust whose objectives are aligned to her values. She serves as a board member on the Cisco local board and as a trustee of the charitable trust board headquartered in San Jose.

Charmaine is passionate about transformation and the advancement of the ICT sector especially women in the sector and is the recipient of a number of business awards in recognition of her vision, leadership, and achievements in the ICT sector. In November 2016, she was named South Africa’s Top Woman in ICT and in August 2017 Charmaine was awarded the MTN Ministerial Recognition Award for her outstanding contribution towards advancing the ICT industry in South Africa. In 2018 Charmaine was nominated by her peers in the industry as a finalist for the personality of the year award.

Charmaine is a long-time mentor and sponsor of and serves on the Advisory Board of Gilcodeza; a social enterprise that aims to empower young girls and women through technology by teaching them how to code and design.

She is a co-founder of the Mentorship Circle (2017) with the African Women’s Chartered Accountant Association (AWCA) and Duke University CE, providing free coaching, mentorship, and sponsorship opportunities for future leaders on jobs of the future. She recently founded Afriel; a non-profit organization that mentors, coaches and sponsors young female leaders in the ICT sector.

Charmaine holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA).

Katja Quasdorf

CEO, Jenman African Safaris and Hideaways

Chief Executive Officer of Jenman African Safaris and Hideaways, Katja Quasdorf, joined the Jenman team 14 years ago and with a background of tourism studies, extensive travel in Southern Africa, East Africa and Madagascar and a thorough understanding of the market, she has worked hard to establish Jenman as one of the most respected safari tour operators in the area. Six years ago Katja and Jenman’s founder, Garth Jenman, created Hideaways, a portfolio of bespoke eco-lodges and experiences committed to life-changing experiences, where guests experience Africa’s uniqueness with the highest levels of comfort and individual service, while playing an active part in the conservation of Africa’s wildlife, natural habitat and support of local communities. Katja was instrumental in the creation of the Grow Africa Foundation, a non-profit organisation established to drive more conservation and support local people, incorporating sustainable tourism into all of Jenman’s and Hideaway’s products. Through this dedication to making a positive impact on the areas in which they operate, Hideaways also became a key founding member of the Conservation and Wildlife Fund (CWF), a collaborative organisation of dedicated stakeholders in and around Hwange National Park that addresses critical issues in the conservation and management of the Hwange ecosystem. Guests who stay at Elephant’s Eye, Hwange and Nantwich automatically contribute to the CWF through a bednight levy, and Nantwich (launching in July 2019) will also host interactive conservation talks with key conservation players, engaging with and inspiring guests to become passionate about conservation themselves.

Sindi Mabaso-Koyana

Chairperson, The African Women Chartered Accountants Investment Holding Company

Sindi Mabaso-Koyana, is currently the Chairperson of The African Women Chartered Accountants Investment Holding Company. She is currently the Chairperson of Advance Capital and of the Advance Group of Companies. Sindi is a Chartered Acccountant by pression with experience in the public and private sector. Her illustrious career includes being Managing Director of Viamax Logistics, Group CFO of Transnet, Executive Partner at Ernst & Young. She has served on a number of boards including Transnet, SAA, south African Institute of Chartered Accountants, MTN, SANRAL, Altron Group, Broadband SA, Fifa and Armscor. Her current board positions include Adcorp Holdings LTD, MTN Zakhele LTD, Eskom and Toyota SA. She is the Founder Member and Former President of African Women Chartered Accountants (AWCA). She now chairs the Advisory Board of AWCA. Sindi is a renowned leader and champion in growth and development of young women. Sindi has been named on of the Top 20 Most Powerful Women in South Africa and was a finalist for the Business Woman Award of South Africa in 2004. Sindi was, in 2013 nominated by The CEO Magazine’s Most Influential Women in Business and Public Sector. She was the Chairperson of the Task team of The South African Institute of Chartered Accountants which launched the paper on Meaningful Reporting on Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) and is now the Chairperson of the Chartered Accountancy Sector Charter. Sindi is a Fellow of the Aspen Global Leadership Network (African Chapter).

Maxi Alberts

Mrs. Maxi Alberts. With her university studies in Urban Planning cut short by an unfortunate turn of events, Mrs. Alberts embarked on a career in property consultation through rigorous self-study, a steadfast work ethic and extensive experience in the industry of Property management and Urban Planning which now extends over 20 years.

In so doing, she enrolled in a series of accredited short courses in the fields of Geographic Information Systems, Urban and Reginal Planning presented by the University of Pretoria and Technology and Cities presented by the Ohio State University.

She has also assisted with lectures on Urban Planning in Advanced Certificate in Shopping Centre Leadership and the Provision of infrastructure Services for the South African Property Owners Association as well was invited as guest speaker at the Military Outreach program that was held by the South African Department of defense and the US Africa Command in September of 2016.

Her career started in 2001 as an Urban Planning assistant to Mr. Charlie Els who established the firm EVS Planning in 1975 and was the 4th Registered Planner to ever Register as a Professional Planner in South Africa. Maxi obtained 50% shareholding in the firm in 2010. In 2019 she became the Executive Director with an 80% shareholding in the Company who until today assists large corporate firms and institutions as well as Government Authorities with Urban Planning and Property Related projects.

The Company is committed to improving lives and has recently established a Non-Profit Organization called Future EVS, which aims to uplift and contribute to the lives of the previously disadvantaged group of people in South Africa.

Maxi has gained invaluable experience in the fields of land use management and development procedures; drafting of plans for new township establishments, urban design; project management of multi-disciplinary teams; spatial planning, communication and negotiation with government departments.

Amy Kleinhans

Executive Director
Amy Kleinhans learnt that if you wanted something, it was up to you to make it happen. This deep-rooted entrepreneurial spirit and goal-oriented focus would be the driving force behind her success, from being crowned as the first non-white winner of Miss South Africa, through to sitting on the boards of several global companies.

As a strong businesswoman, Amy Embraces challenges and believes that you learn from every job and every experience. Her philosophy is that a business needs to be profitable but is must also serve a broader purpose and leave a worthwhile legacy. Amy is best known for commitment to education and youth development, and her firm dedication to supporting young entrepreneurs and uplifting women. Coming from a family of teacher, her passion for education led her to stabling Dial-A-Teacher in 1998. The company continues to have an immense impact on education throughout South Africa, supporting about 350,000 families.

Amy is involved in various charities. She says: “Assisting others provides the deepest, most profound joy- it is also the best beauty treatment.”

Amy is a people person and loves entertaining. She enjoys swimming and is thee organizer of the Bridge House Mile Open Water Swim. Her other hobbies include painting, reading, yachting and going to the theatre.

Amy says: “I only know one way to live and that is authentically. With another human being in a meaningful way, to recognize the extraordinary in each of us.”

Ilze Albers is a renowned Psychologist, Life Strategist and international- published author and speaker. Ilze’s objective is to show people how to build their personal well-being, financial empowerment and strong family relationships.

Tamburai Chirume is the co-founder of the mother and daughter design collaboration, ONEOFEACH- an African luxury brand that focuses on luxury leather and African inspired handbags designed in Cape Town and available to the world. ONEOFEACH has gained recognition in the international space, supplying over 17 outlets worldwide, Including the British Museum and the George Washington University Textile Museum. Tamburai is passionate about turning creative arts into profitable business. She is also an alumna of the African Women Entrepreneur Program run by the U.S. Department of State.

Linda Coltart

My expertise is hard-won from every corner of the hospitality world. I’ve worked with top restaurants, events, festivals, guest houses and – in particular – 16 years as General Manager of one of South Africa’s most acclaimed Hotel/Restaurants – Le Quartier Français: a Relais & Chateaux Property and The Tasting Room: a Relais Gourmand and one of the San Pellegrino top 50 restaurants in the world.
 
​​My extensive travels for Le Quartier Français have given me a unique view on the world’s premium hospitality operations – staying in the World’s best hotels, dining in the finest Restaurants and taking part in many trade shows and workshops around the World.

My passion for wine blossomed on these travels and my expertise on South African wines has been recognized by the Diners Club Int. Excellence and Diamond Awards I’ve received. I continue to contribute to South African wine through extensive wine-tuition with staff and members of the Franschhoek Wine Valley.

Over the years I have also been involved in numerous renovations and new projects, giving me a special insight into the design and layout of restaurants and bars.

I have led a highly motivated team to world-class accolades and implemented a benchmark in-house training program at Le Quartier Français. This focused on the upliftment of young adults from the surrounding community through training in hospitality. 
 
I concluded my time at Le Quartier Français in 2014 to start my own business “Hospitality Fundi”.  I consult in the Industry with Advising, Planning, Training and Development, Innovating and Event Co-ordinating.
I am the Franschhoek Wine Valley Ambassador working closely with its members and the local community. I lecture at the Franschhoek Hospitality Academy and consult for Regional Development in the Barossa, Australia.  
 
I am currently involved in a Philanthropic initiative alongside Abercrombie & Kent, an award-winning luxury travel company.  The “Bike Project” (a woman only project) is a community-based initiative setting up 5 local ladies in business, teaching them the business of selling, renting and bike mechanical skills with room to grow the initiative through other philanthropic projects.

: Julia Falken & Alison Barnard are the founders of Ju’Al Events & Training, a South African Women Empowerment Company who believe collaborating is of vital importance in the world of business today and that when women work together they become a powerful phenomena. Ju’Al was formed with the express purpose of facilitating women and girls to improve female entrepreneurial activity  and to encourage them on this career path. Our belief is to rather uplift females and that creativity and business efficiency are not luxuries, rather basic human and business rights that directly impact an individual’s ability to make progress –economically, socially and environmentally. Ju’Al Events & Training creates memorable event experiences, International Women’s Day being their Signature event. Through their combined efforts of training, teaching and creating events for women, they continue to inspire, motivate and uplift women and schoolgirls. Julia & Alison are so passionate about training young people in various aspects of event management, that their development programme provides females with valuable work entry skills and placement in events Ju’Al creates. They are members of various business organizations in the Western Cape, with a main focus of uplifting females in regional, rural and remote areas.
